Lillianne Cadieux-Shaw BA, JD
Associate
Lil is an associate with Pape Salter Teillet LLP. She specializes in Indigenous rights, with an emphasis on litigation and dispute resolution. Lil has advocated at all levels of court, including before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
Lil has a particular passion for finding creative ways to advocate for Indigenous rights through public law and private law, with experience advocating for constitutional evolution and for the creation of novel torts. Lil is also passionate about the protection of Indigenous knowledge and cultural expressions through intellectual property laws. Lil is frequently invited to speak at conferences and in classrooms about tort law and constitutional law issues. She also provides legal advice through the Indigenous Human Rights Clinic.
Prior to joining Pape Salter Teillet LLP, Lil was a litigator at a civil litigation boutique in Toronto, where she maintained a broad civil litigation practice. She has also served as a law clerk to the Honourable Madam Justice Karakatsanis of the Supreme Court of Canada. Lil completed her articles at the Ministry of the Attorney General – Constitutional Law Branch and summered at Parkdale Community Legal Services in the social assistance, health, and gender-based violence division.
Lil is called to the bar in Ontario.
