Katie Tucker LL.B., LL.M.

Counsel to the Firm

Katie Tucker is counsel with Pape Salter Teillet LLP. She specializes in negotiating and litigating the protection and promotion of Aboriginal and treaty rights. Katie has worked extensively on both historic and modern treaty implementation issues, particularly with respect to lands and resources. She has litigated various matters relating primarily to breaches of the fiduciary duty and honour of the Crown. She has also led and participated in governance, fiscal, and co-management negotiations. 

Prior to joining Pape Salter Teillet LLP, Katie practiced as in-house counsel for an Inuit treaty organization after having been in private practice with two Montreal firms specializing in Indigenous rights. Katie has been a Sessional Instructor in the Indigenous Studies program at McGill University, teaching History and Development of Aboriginal Law in Canada. She has published and provided Continuing Legal Education on the duty to consult and accommodate, Aboriginal rights in relation to International Trade Agreements, and Indigenous Restorative Justice.

Katie received her LL.B. and BCL from McGill University, and LL.M. in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School. She is called to the bar in Ontario and Quebec.
