Andrew Bonnell BA, JD
Associate
Andrew is an associate with Pape Salter Teillet LLP and specializes in Indigenous rights and Aboriginal law.
Andrew advises clients on a variety of issues, including the development of economic opportunities, land and resource governance, and the negotiation of impact and benefit agreements.
Prior to joining Pape Salter Teillet LLP, Andrew worked with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in its Legal Services and Policy Branches, where he practiced Aboriginal law in the context of natural resource development and the negotiation of modern treaties. As a summer student with the Ministry of the Attorney General’s Indigenous Justice Division, Andrew interned with the Division’s Debwewin Summer Law Student Program. He also summered and volunteered with a legal aid clinic in southwestern Ontario where he worked closely with the clinic’s Indigenous Justice Coordinator.
Andrew received his JD from the University of Western Ontario where he was the recipient of the Anne Marie Gutierrez Memorial Award in Law for outstanding academic achievement and promise in the fields of Aboriginal and environmental law. While completing his JD, Andrew researched assertions of Indigenous law in relation to natural resource development projects and attended an Indigenous law camp.
Andrew is called to the bar in Ontario.
