Zachary Davis is a partner with Pape Salter Teillet LLP and specializes in Indigenous rights law, with an emphasis on litigation and governance.

Zachary’s litigation practice focuses on a range of areas impacting Indigenous peoples, including constitutional law, administrative law, self-government issues and employment matters. Zachary has appeared before courts and tribunals across the country and at all levels of appeal, including, among others, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Zachary has been actively involved in several regulatory proceedings and related engagements with Indigenous communities relating to major energy and infrastructure projects. He also provides advice and support to Indigenous communities on a broad range of issues, including self-governance, rights assertion and employment matters. Zachary has helped numerous Indigenous communities in drafting and implementing their own laws and policies in order to help them assume effective control of their own governance and management.

 Prior to joining Pape Salter Teillet LLP, Zachary practiced with a firm specializing in Indigenous rights law based in Montreal, Quebec. He also interned at the United Nations Secretariat for the Convention on Biological Diversity, where his work focused on protecting the traditional knowledge, innovation and practices of Indigenous and local communities.

 Zachary received his LL.B and BCL from McGill University and is called to the bar in Ontario, Yukon, Alberta and Quebec.
